Corimbo I 2017 – Bodegas La Horra (D.O. Ribera del Duero)

94 Points - Tim Atkin , 93 Points - Guía Peñín

Corimbo I 2017 is the flagship cuvée from Bodegas La Horra (the Ribera del Duero project by the iconic Bodegas Roda), epitomizing depth, precision, and restrained power. In the glass, it displays a deep, intense dark cherry hue with luminous ruby reflections.

On the nose, it reveals a profound and complex aromatic profile dominated by ripe black fruits such as blackberries, black cherries, and dark plums, seamlessly intertwined with limestone minerality, balsamic notes, scrubland herbs, fine cedar, dark chocolate, and discreet sweet spices from high-quality toasted oak.

On the palate, it is full-bodied, dense, and enveloping, yet remarkably fluid and poised. The structural tannins are firm and abundant, yet exquisitely polished into a velvety texture. A vivid, tensioned line of acidity provides tremendous freshness and balance against the warmth of the 2017 vintage. The finish is persistent, focused, and extraordinarily long, leaving lingering nuances of dark fruit, mineral graphite, and refined smoky oak.

Description

Corimbo l is a red wine made in the Ribera del Duero by Bodegas La Horra. Bodegas La Horra is a project in the Ribera del Duero by Bodegas Roda, a well-known winery in La Rioja as they are architects of great wines such as Roda Roda I, II or Cirsion Roda.

Corimbo l is made from Tinta del Pais, a typical variety of Ribera del Duero. The grapes come from old vines over 40 years old, planted at an altitude of 800 metres in the towns of Horra and Roa in the province of Burgos.

The harvest is done manually and the grapes are subjected to a strict selection process. The process begins with a maceration of the grapes. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak vats, while malolactic fermentation occurs in barrels.

Corimbo l undergoes a 16-month aging in French oak barrels (80%) and American oak barrels (20%). It is stabilized by natural means and is clarified with egg white.

Corimbo l is an excellent red wine from the Ribera del Duero. A wine with body, strong, with plenty of fruit and tannins of great quality that promise an excellent evolution in the bottle.
