Oremus Mandolas 2022 Highlight

Scores & Accolades: 94 Points - Wine Enthusiast | 93 Points - Decanter | 92 Points - James Suckling

Tasting Characteristics: Luminous, pale straw-yellow with lime-green glints; crystal clear. The bouquet is vibrant, linear, and sharply defined, leaping from the glass with crisp green apple, lemon oil, quince, and fresh white peach, underscored by wild blossoms, raw almonds, and wet crushed volcanic stone. The palate enters with brisk, upright energy driven by Furmint’s electric natural acidity, perfectly harmonized by an attractive textural creaminess from lees stirring. The finish is bone dry, clean, and remarkably persistent, echoing a mouth-watering saline minerality and subtle roasted nut nuances.

Description

About Oremus Mandolas 2022

Acquired by TEMPOS Vega Sicilia in 1993, Tokaj Oremus was revived with the ambition to restore the historic prominence of Hungary’s famed Tokaj region.

Mandolás, named after an ancient plot once bordered by wild almond groves, spearheaded the revolution of Dry Furmint, establishing it as one of the world’s most exciting mineral-driven dry white wines. Situated on steep slopes rich in volcanic rhyolite tuff and clay, the vineyard delivers unmatched mineral definition. The 2022 vintage highlights the purity and vitality of the Furmint grape, combining crystalline orchard fruit and bracing acidity with the rounded complexity achieved through 6 months of aging and regular bâtonnage in local Hungarian oak casks.
